DS(7) constantly blocked nose - wheat to blame?

ds1 has suffered with terrible catarrh for at least the last two years...have seen GP who thought it was hay fever and prescribed nasal spray that didn't seem to make much difference but it doesn't seem to get worse/better with seasons. His nose is constantly blocked with thick green (sorry, tmi) mud us, no matter how much he blows it. It has the knock on effect of making him deaf even more than a typical little boy and interferes with his concentration at school. Because he was the same even on holiday, I am now wondering if it could be diet related rather than something in his environment. He doesn't consume very much dairy but he does have quite a lot of wheat.

Does anyone have similar experience/knowledge and think this could be likely? I started cutting it out today to see what happens after a few days but he is very upset at not having his usual weetabix, sandwiches, hot cross buns...we haven't got to pasta yet Shock!

does he drink much milk?

Get a referral to the allergy clinic. You need to speak to the experts. The consultant knew ateaight away dd had rhinitis.

No, only milk he has is on the weetabix, he occasionally has a frube or two, butter on bread but nothing else, no cheese at all.

My DS was the same when he was younger. He had his adenoids removed and the problem went away immediately.

yes i was going to suggest an adenoid problem. my little one was constantly bunged up before adenoids were removed. does he snore? have awful breath in the morning? hearing problems? all of these are signs of enlarged adenoids.
