Any dentists out there?

My DD's (7 next week) teeth are a mess Sad

She has lost three teeth so far and has one loose tooth but her adult teeth are coming in behind her baby teeth, even behind other adult teeth. She has about five adult teeth coming through. Her baby teeth were always straight and perfect.

Her teeth will be correctable won't they? Can you still get braces on the NHS as I fear it might cost us thousands to fix them.

Aww, if the need sorted rather than you wanting them sorted for cosmetic reasons it will be free but they my sort themselves when all the adult teeth come through!

Disclaimer: I am not a dentist just the mother of a crooked tooth child!

Thanks for the reply.

Do they really sort themselves out? So when all her baby teeth fall out they'll sort of shift into position?

And what does it mean "if they need sorting" aren't braces just for cosmetic reasons all the time?

We're not due to see the dentist again until November.

hi, dont worry, 7 is still really young! as children grow their jaws grow with them to make space for the new teeth and they naturally shift into place. its best to reassess at age 11 or 12 when usually most of adult teeth have come in. then if braces are needed your dd could be referred then.

seriously am sure she will be fine!

Thanks, I really hope they do sort themselves out.

If she needed braces could she get them on the NHS or would we have to (try) to pay for them?

If she is assessed severe enough she will certainly be treatable on the NHS. But generally treatment is not started until all the permanent teeth come through. (12-13) Depends on area and resources too.
At her next dental visit speak to dentist about referrals in area and may happen earlier. if appointment is a way off contact surgery and they may see her earlier.
You may be surprised as jaw grows situation will correct itself.
If you are willing to pay treatment may start earlier.
