Ok here we go!
Ds has had lumps appearing after bowel movements on and off for 6months. Saw an ooh doc and he said control with diet and see your own doc if symptoms persist.
This was about 4 weeks ago. So we discussed importance of 5 a day and have a sticker chart which he gets a sticker per 1 portion.
In the last week i've come to recognise when he's going to move his bowels as he gets an extremely itchy bottom then 10 mins later he's on the toilet and afterwards there is a lump, not hanging out but a part of anus protrudes let's say.!!
His bottom is then itchy after and he finds it very hard to sleep. He is currently crying on my knee and keeps tensing up when it itches.
He does not have worms but doc have him medication for this last week to be sure.
I will take him back to docs on monday but i wondered if any one had any ecperience with a child with piles and how i can soothe him over the weekend
Sorry for the info!
Thanks in advance

I've no experience of children with piles but adults suffer in a very similar way to your description. You are doing the right thing diet wise and hopefully lots of fluids, but you have to beat haemorrhoids into submission with creams, suppositories etc. Once they have settled they are usually well behaved unless they flare up again! I would not suggest suppositories in a child but creams over the counter are really helpful. Unfortunately there is usually an age restriction of 12 so whatever you get will need a dr prescription. Local relief as in a lukewarm bath may help, but you need a cream with maybe a local anaesthetic to soothe the itching. Even sudocrem may help but I imagine it will sting Sad perhaps vaseline??

Many thanks for your reply.
Saw a pharmacist today who totally dismissed it as children with haemorrhoids is too rare! I bought some witch hazel which helped this afternoon briefly after a bowel movement.
Really feel for him as he said earlier that he feels like his bottom has a heart beat and wished it would stop!
He's had a lot of minor health problems in his short life and i know the doc thinks i'm a crazy parent but back we'll go on monday with our newest complaint!!

Hi tibywibs,

How did you get on at the Docs? I think my DD(14) has them. I have made an appt at the Docs but was wondering what your Doctor said.
