Tiny blisters on sides of dds fingers

My dd (6 yrs) woke up yesterday with a couple of very small clear blisters on one of her fingers (looked a bit like a chilblain to me). Anyway, wasn't concerned but then she woke up this morning with her fingers covered in them. One hand is particularly bad and the other hand only has one or two fingers with a few on each. She said there are itchy and her fingers are slightly swollen but she feels fine apart from that. I have just spoken to the doctor and she thinks it might be hand, foot and mouth but they are not at all red and she has no other symptoms. I am taking her in this afternoon to see the doctor but wondered if anyone else had witnessed something similar.

Check her mouth to see if she has any ulcers. It does sound like HFM, when DD had it, she just had one blister on her hand, but she had a mouth full of ulcers.

Thanks vigglewiggle - will check her mouth when we get home. Did your dd have any fever or other symptoms?

Scabies? Small, clear, hard blister type bumps in between fingers, toes and palms. Very itchy.

Sorry to suggest something as unpleasant but it could be?

If there are no ulcers or any other symptoms, it might be psoriasis? I have palmoplantar psoriasis, which is generally just clear blisters on my hands. Oh, the pictures you find online for this are horrific, I don't think its every normally that bad, mine certainly isn't!

DSD12 suffers from Dyshidrosis on her hands - it's a form of eczema. It can be triggered by hayfever, stress, harsh chemicals or soaps etc.

Usually the blisters are deep seated in the skin - They will usually prescribe a strong corticosteroid cream and advice to steer clear of harsh soaps etc. You can get the GP to prescribe Epaderm or a similar emulsifying wax to keep the hands moisturized and you can also use it to wash hands etc.

HTH

No, she had no fever or other symptoms. She had a very sore mouth though which is why I took her to the doctor.

EverybodyKnows - I think it sounds more like Dyshidrosis - but is it likely that this would appear out of the blue like this?

My dd has that this week, tiny white blister looking spots on her fingers, really really itchy.

She had these once after doing painting at school and three days ago she was gluing so i think it's an allergic reaction to something.

I have been giving her Piriton for the itching, pharmacist said might be worth taking her to the gp.

I couldn't get an appointment so tried some of dd1s Emovate Eczema Cream on one hand to see if it helped and it cleared up. Put it on the other hand and after three days they have gone.

It does appear out of the blue for DSD- She has it about 2 times a year.

jennymac · 30/08/2012 12:32

That's good to know hokeycokey. She is looked after by my in-laws during the week and they have said there has been nothing different which she has been exposed to but you never know.

The sore mouth and blisters sounds like HFM to me. My son had blisters on his fingers and toes and a few round his bottom, and ulcers in his mouth. Don't think he had a temp or any other symptoms.

Jennlx · 30/08/2012 15:22

Sounds like HFM to me too. Good luck :).

Herpes, like cold sores? My OH gets them on his fingers and treats them with the cold sore cream whose name I cant remember, Zovirax??
