Toddler's right eye slightly upset every so often

Maybe I'm over-reacting.

DD is 2. Every so often (maybe once or twice a day) she rubs her right eye and sometimes complains that it hurts (although she generally forgets about it pretty quickly). If I ask her 'Does it hurt?' (she understands the word) she sometimes says yes.

When she's tired, then her right eye seems to 'look' more tired than the other (it gets slightly redder and slightly wetter if that makes sense).

She's in great health otherwise.

This has been going on for about three/four weeks now and doesn't seem to be getting worse.

Is this just a weird thing that her body does? Or should I get it looked at?

I would get it looked at personally. You only get one pair :) it might be hay fever or a mild infection

I know this chain is very old but by any chance you are still active could you please provide an update? I’m going through a similar situation with my little one.

Just wanted to provide follow up since it looks like this pops up every now and then but no previous updates!

After seeing the pediatrician and pediatric ophthalmologist, we went and saw a pediatric neurologist since it was becoming a daily occurrence. Based on his symptoms, we were told that it is primary stabbing headache. While not overly common in toddlers it does happen. It can be brought on by illness or sometimes just happens. It should likely remedy itself over time but they can give medicine as well (but causes stomach issues). Little one’s symptoms have started to ease so we are going to watch it for now rather than use medicine but will have a follow up appointment with neurology in 2 months to ensure it is better. Hope this helps!
