My 3 yo DD has what I always thought were pretty goo teeth. Cleans regularly, drinks lots of water etc. SHe has sweets, chocolate at times but we clean after if we can and rinse with water if not. Teeth have always looked fine to my untrained eye, and she has had them checked at the dentist-all ok- and is due another appointment soon.

Anyway, when I looked into her mouth under a strong light (we were playing dentists) I noticed that her bottom molars looked different. It's very hard to explain, but it almost looks like patches where the enamel is thinning and looks a little translucent. It doesn't look like Pictures of typical decay that I have seen, there are no bright white flecks or brown spots. It's in the natural indentations of the molars and appears regularly over the bottom molars. The top ones look fine.

I showed Dp and he said he could remember his older Ds teeth being the same and that it was normal wear, but I still feel worried. I haven't done a good job of explaining it but has anyone else had this?

On looking again in a bit more detail, it is also apparent on the top molars too and the surface of the molars look sort of glassy/thin in certain areas. but the surface areas of all other teeth look absolutely normal. I'm trying to reassure myself that if she was getting decay on pretty much all of her molars then there would be some signs on other teeth too but don't know if that true!

The reason I am so worried is that it seems to be a new development, we have often played dentists in the past and her molars have always looked solid white.

It's a horrible feeling that I might not have done my best for her in terms of her teeth and she may have problems as a result.
