DD woke up in the night crying of tummy pain and was sick once. She also developed a fever. Because she has been complaining reasonably regularly of tummy aches in the last few months (normally goes immediately and she eats, etc, as normal) and also had a fever for five days about three weeks ago, I took her to the GP this morning. They did a urine sample and found some sugar (which she said could be the result of contamination) and protein, so the sample has been sent off to the lab and we are being referred for bloodtests. According to GP the sugar can mean diabetes. DD is five, and from researching diabetes symptoms, has none of the other signs whatsoever. But I am of course going spare with worry now and we can't get the blood tests until Tuesday and wont get results until the end of next week. Same for the urine lab results. Just wondered if anyone had any idea of experience of sugar in urine that had another explanation. She also has no other symptoms of a urine infection, so not sure what the protein might mean either. Thank you for ANY thoughts or information.
