Nearly 3yo DS with terrible trapped wind at night :(

My little boy who has been a really good sleeper for a long time has started waking up screaming in the night. He's speech delayed so can't really describe the pain, but it seems to be his tummy, and eventually after a couple of hours of grizzles he lets rip massively and then sleeps soundly.

Is there anything we can do about this? We try rubbing his back/tummy like you would for a baby but it doesn't work.

Also a possibly stupid question - he wears bandage tops/leggings at night because of bad eczema - is it possible that the tight elasticated waistband is causing this? I can't think what else it could be - his diet hasn't changed, he's recently potty trained but is doing really well and still going regularly so not constipated. Can't really figure out a pattern to when it happens.

Any ideas? Would Infacol or something work on a toddler?

Can you try offering him some peppermint tea?

Wow, never thought of that. Is it ok for such a young child to have? (sorry probably another stupid question!)

How about doing some yoga moves before bed? Downward dog might release some of the trapped wind!

Ooh that's a good idea too. We have a couple of baby yoga books (sleepy little yoga) that we used to do before bed until the novelty wore off, I'll dig them out.

Farty yoga should generate a good few giggles! Smile
