Well the time came during the summer to buy my son's first school uniform. He is almost 6 following my decision to defer last year, so I automatically went for age 6 shirts, and age 5 trousers (as he is slightly thin on the waist).
I trailed the shops for weeks trying to find school trousers that would fit his age 4 waist and age 6 leg length... Finally found them in Next.
However, since then he has grown and his waist is even narrower, and his full rib cage is jutting out! I'm so worried.
He is an above average height, was 10lb4 at birth, eats adult portions and has since age 2... He has a slim build but bones jutting out? Please tell me I'm not the only one with a boy who looks malnourished? I'm considering giving up my rule that junk food is only allowed on Sundays to beef him up a bit!

It's normal to see their ribs a bit at this age isn't it? My DS is nearly 6 and still in age 4 trousers but perhaps not as long-legged as yours.
Marks and Spencer do school uniform from age 4.

There are loads of online growth charts if you want to check if he's underweight.

My DS1 is pretty skinny despite eating well. When he started Reception we had to get three year old (long length) trousers so that they wouldn't fall down.

His father was skinny as a teenager and the paternal grandfather was a beanpole - so it runs in the family. If your concerned get the GP to check him out otherwise as long as he eats well enjoy the fact that he can have a few treats without worrying.
