My 5 year old daughter seems to have symptoms of cystitis

My 5 year old daughter seems to have symptoms of cystitis from what she can express to me. In which she has a quite painful stinging sensation when passing urine, but not every time she goes, or every day.

There does not appear to be any redness/soreness or other unusual exterior symptoms. She has no food allergies or any of that nonsense and bathes every day in fragrance free bath products (as I thought bath products might be a contributing factor).

Has anyone had similar experience with such a young girl?

It's possible for her to have a urinary infection. Why don't you take her to the doctor?

ClaireRacing The doctor's appointment is a week and a half away - hence some views sought on the matter during the interim ...

I'm an old hat at this. My dd has had recurrent UTIs from age 2 to very recently, now 8. She's under the paed for this but one interesting fact I picked up only recently is that they are very, very sensitive on the outer vulva and it can sting when they're weeing. It's called vulvovaginitis. You wont always see redness. Apparently vinegar baths are helpful and you shouldn't put antiseptic in(which I had been doing!)
don't wash with soap, just water is fine.
Obviously, you've got an appointment so you're checking out whether she does have a UTI. Do you really have to wait that long? In any case, the above might be helpful. Does she have a stingy vulva at other times too or is it just when shes weeing? This problem is quite common in pre pubescent girls. Wish I'd known about it sooner tbh. Ive had my dd up in the middle of the night complaining!
