Where does chicken pox start?

DS3 has some spots on his face and elbows but none on his torso. I don't know whether its chicken pox or some other random rash. They are pretty small red pimply spots with one larger one on his chin which I originally though was a bump. His appetite is down but no temperature/other symptoms. He's also teething and has ezcema on his face which is complicating things.

The problem is that we had promised DS1 and 2 that we were going to a theme park tomorrow. They will be gutted if we don't go and DS1 has ASD so doesn't really understand when things change (and gets distressed). DS3 is still in a pushchair (not walking) and having been to this park before I know we can keep him away from anyone else as one of us would just wait with him and then take it in turns with the other two on the rides. We were intending to take a picnic so we wouldn't be in a restaurant. Not sure what to do.

I'm not sure I would take the risk tbh, sorry. Sad

IME if it is chickenpox there will be more by the morning then you can decide.

Could they be bites?

doesnt sound like chicken pox. Maybe hand, foot and mouth?

DS had something like this, on his face, elbows and knees. I was worried about chicken pox but he wasn't itchy and it wasn't getting any worse. The GP said it was a viral rash and not contagious (I was going to soft play and didn't want to share anything nasty!). Is there any way you could pop into a walk in centre before going to the park?

If they were chicken pox they'd be spreading and there will be more tomorrow and they fill with liquid like blisters but I wouldn't risk it anyway. Maybe ring your gp and try and get seen first thing to check if still there?

I guess if no blisters tomorrow then it's not chicken pox. DS2 also has a rash on his face which I thought was a reaction to suncream but I'm wondering if it's impetigo. And if so whether he's given it to DS3 (although it looks very different).

When they had chickenpox, DS1&2 came out with spots within minutes of each other but DS2 hardly had any spots and DS1 was covered. If I hadnt seen DS1's spots I would probably have put DS2's down to a heat rash or bites. But DS2 did have some on his torso and DS3 doesn't (yet).

No blisters and no more spots. Not chickenpox then.
