What do you give children to stop nausea? My poor DS is really struggling.

My 5yr old DS has a horrible tummy bug, he throws up whatever I give him. We didn't sleep at all last night.
I went to the pharmacy to ask for something that will alleviate his nausea but was told to contact the GP, so I called the GP who told me that in the UK doctors do not give children any medication for nausea.
So what am I supposed to do to help my poor DS who is really suffering?
Can someone please tell me is there is anything I can give him? I have given him the over the counter medicine for fever but it brings back the nausea.
My older DS has the same bug but not as bad as this.
I called NHs direct who are very busy and will only call back in 4 hours. Pleas help.

TBH, it's better to get it all out no matter how upsetting your DS finds it. It is grotty but it will pass.
My DD had umpteen gastric bugs when she was very small (mainly dysentry), she was never given an anti emetic.

Agree with ripishere, they just have to continue until it all comes out, it doesn't take that long with dc ime. They recover quite quickly.

I wouldn't give him any food and only sips of water until he hasn't thrown up forms few hours and then small bites of dry food, ginger biscuits, crisps, dry toast and see how that goes.

I have never even heard of anti nausea drugs for dc in this situation.

Poor little boy! If I had nausea I would definitely take something, seems heartbreaking to see him suffering like this. Thanks for your advice.

What would you take for nausea btw as an adult? Am not aware of anything for dnv that will stop it, it seems counterintuitive as you need to clear your stomach.

Ginger can be good for nausea - nibbling a ginger nut biscuit will help to give an energy boost with the sugar too, try a health food shop some stock ginger supplements for younger children.

Of course drink plenty of water too as dehydration will only make the effects of nausea feel worse.

If he needs something for fever, suppositories are the way to go. I'd leave his digestive system to do its own thing for now if I were you.
