Chickenpox in a vaccinated child?!!

Is that possible? DS (11mo) has had the pox for past week (started on the 16th) and DD (3yo) has just got a temperature of 39 degrees. She had the chickenpox vaccination (both injections) when she was 1. Is it more likely to be the pox or something else. Supposed to be going on holiday tomorrow :(

I think they vaccinate for Chicken Pox in USA.

Pagwatch · 20/07/2012 19:28

Vaccinations are not 100%.

None of them. Yes it could be chicken pox

My sister has had chicken pox and been vaccinated twice for it and she is still not immune to it (she works with immuno suppressed patients.) I think sometimes your immune system sometimes doesn't recognise certain viruses.

Yep -possible, although it's a bit early if she caught it off her brother - although the incubation period can be as short as 7 days so possible. Are you meant to be flying on holiday? They won't let you fly with chickenpox.
