In my pictures - a little boy has them on his fingertip and they hurt when you put pressure on them - they look like blisters but does anyone have any idea?

ouch they look painful! No idea sorry, they just look like blisters to me...

headfairy · 06/07/2012 19:38

Have you ruled out the obvious (sorry if that's umm, obvious) like has he touched anything hot or chemical to cause a burn?

viagrafalls · 06/07/2012 19:39

Hmm, thats what I thought but he says no.

Possibly something chemical that might not have burned straight away...

Springforward · 06/07/2012 19:48

Chemical contact, burn or friction?

viagrafalls · 06/07/2012 19:50

Yes, they are swedish - on holiday in Italy - there is no liquid so they aren't blisters as such but they hurt when contact is made. I've just asked his mummy what he has been playing with!

Could it be to do with touching a nasty plant?

viagrafalls · 06/07/2012 20:13

At the moment, her internet is dow as well so the mystery deepens! I will let you all know if and when the information comes in! Smile

Car battery acid, has he been playing near a car Confused -

Though clutching at straws if he's 5 or less,it spreads over his hands + he has other vague symptoms, cold, irritable etc, self coloured fine rash on torso - hard to see, but feels like sand paper your friend might want to think about Frith disease - that will need treatment within 10 days to avoid complications

rockinhippy · 06/07/2012 20:58

Blush not Frith - Kawasaki Disease - its rare, but does happen & comes with some pretty weird symptoms ( my DD was believed to have "possibly" had it) most common in DCs under 5, but not impossible if older - though if its just his finger tips, it can't be that :)

The other possibilities - Toilet Cleaner, or certain types of moth Caterpillars can be toxic & burn the skin

twilight81 · 06/07/2012 23:12

Don't know... But my dd had exactly same thing happen to her while we were on holiday in Spain when she was about 3. Doctor said was a reaction to something but we never found out what.

Another one here considering Kawasaki disease ( ds has had KD) is he well otherwise?

Could he have come into contact with Poison Ivy?

SummerRain · 07/07/2012 01:01

Hand foot and mouth? Does he have any other signs of being ill?

viagrafalls · 07/07/2012 15:18

Right, well apparently both the redness and the pain went away over night. So we may never know. Thanks for all your help? (damp squib emoticon)

Really glad he's all better now, that great news :) - but I'm really wondering if it was actually a toxic caterpillar that he's picked up - that would fit with is clearing so quickly too & apparently theres a glut of them, here in the UK, coming over from Europe too - ironically that was my DDs suggestion as they were warned not to touch them on a recent school trip
