my dd has just been diagnosed with this after some funny turns over the years and some definate fits more recently.

Anyone else have experience of it?

Bumping for you.

My DS had anoxic seizures but seems to have grown out of them (everything crossed) He's 4 now and hasn't had one for almost 2 years. I guess the bad thing is that we've stopped thinking it might happen and are very laissez faire now.

Dd3 had them but also seems to be growing out of them. She's still very sensitive to pain though.

And Yy to fit bring scary - first time,I called an ambulance.

BardOfBarking · 30/06/2012 19:59

We didn't have a great deal of 'fitting' DS went entirely still, eyes rolled, lips went bluish and he fell to the floor - stiff as a board. He did 'twitch' a bit as he came round and then he recovered very quickly. He wasn't 'spent' in the way that is associated with epilepsy.

Thanks for replies, wow a few of us then, I had never heard of it. dd has a genetic condition which means lots of blood tests and procedures, drips etc so I am surprised she hasnt had more.

Bardofbarking my dd has only jerked with them twice. Once she was exhausted for hours after one but the last time onlya few mins.

So they stop breathing then? I have never noticed that but she does go very pale.

My original thread is here (I was an angrypixie in those days) I just thought he had fainted, everyone was horrified that I hadn't rushed him to A&E but it was all a little surreal and he seemed so well afterwards.

used2bthin · 01/07/2012 00:00

Thanks, I will have a read of that now. DD has only jerked twice so I wonder if that is because she didnt fully stop breathing. But as it seems to be caused by lackof oxygen I am not sure. Once she made a choking sound which now makes sense!

I have been amazingly calm after some bardofbarking, its partly why I didnt want to give her the epilepsy meds when they thought that was the cause of the fits, the attacks seemed so short it just made me feel I mustve imagined it.

Just read the original thread of yours and it is almost exactly what happened to me when dd was three-then she had nothing till a year later when she was ill. The first time she had what was described as a borderline ecg too but when we went to get it rechecked it was normal.

Hi, I work for Arrhythmia Alliance, which is charity that supports people suffering with heart irregularities. Our sister charity, STARS, supports people with syncope and reflex anoxic seizures.

You can find out lots of information on diagnosis, treatments and helplines on this website: www.stars.org.uk/

Hope this helps!

How old is your child? My child had her last one when she was about 2, which seems to be quite common. It was so scary, but it was a brief stage which passed very quickly, thankfully.
