Early signs of chickenpox, how long unwell etc?

Hi, sorry, In know that chickenpox has probaby been talked about over and over on here, but I'm a first time mum and just a bit unsure about it all.

My DD is 2, her friend recently had chickenpox. We see her friend usually at least once per week. On the week that her friend came out with spots we saw her 4 days, 2 days and 1 day before the spots came out. So basically, we were with her when she was at her most contagious. We were in close proximity and spent lots of time together. My DD's friend's spots came out 11 days ago.

On Friday evening my DD complained of having a sore tongue. I looked at it and there was a small ulcer. My DD had an unusual amount of salt last week (parties, McDonald's etc) aqnd I put it down to that. She doesnt usually have alot of salt and I suffer from mouth ulcers if I have more salt than usual. It is affecting her ability to eat. I gave her paracetamol earlier today which seemed to help (it helped her generally as think she was feeling a bit miserable, very tearful at points and more clingy) and put a little bit of bonjela on the ulcer, though I now think that there may be more small ulcers developing.

Anyway, yesterday and today my DD has also developed cold symptoms, which got much worse today, her mouth is really annoying her and she is coughing occasionally. She appears to have a stinking cold - had she not been exposed to chickenpox I wouldnt even be thinking about it, apart from the mouth ulcer.

So, do you think that she has CP?

We go on holiday on friday. Staying in the UK and driving so we dont have issues with flights etc, but I am worried that she may be too unwell to go or contagious (Spelling? Sorry)???

Any info would be great.

Thanks.

Have you googled hand foot and mouth? It could be that.

Neither of my kids were ill before the pox, or in fact during it apart from a fever and the spots.

chickenpox usually starts on the torso though not always.

You could call a pharmacy tomorrow and ask them if you could park outside and they could come have a look at her?

That sounds like hand foot and mouth :( Which sounds horrific, but is quite common in toddlers. Does your friend's DC defo have Chicken pox?

Neither of mine were ill before chicken pox, first sign was a few spots, then over the next 24 hours a slight temperature and being a bit quiet for a day or two whilst the rest of the spots appeared.
