First year baby vaccinations - moving countries between vaccinations

I'm planning ahead here but DC2 is due to be born about 2-3 months before we move from Belgium to the UK. It is probable that the first 5in1 vaccination (at 2 months) will be given in Belgium and the next two (3 and 4 months) in the UK.

I am concerned as the 5in1 in Belgium is actually a 6in1 as it contains Hep B vaccine. Plus Meningitis C is only given once in Belgium at 12 months and not at 3 and 4 months as in the UK.

Does anyone know if it would be dangerous for DC to have the first vaccine in Belgium which will be a different brand and contain Hep B to the final two vaccines which s/he would have in the UK? Plus if things are delayed and s/he ends up having the first two in Belgium it means that they won't have had the 3 month Meningitis C so I'm guessing the 4 month one in the UK won't work?

Any advice here would be great! Thank you! Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Have a look at these 2 websites that give credible/impartial information on vaccinations that doctors and health visitors will not. Also there are many books on vaccinations e.g. by Lynne McTaggart - The Vaccination Bible.

Interesting.

Maybe a slight amendment to my original question is needed, 'Any evidence-based, impartial, clinical advice would be great'.

I would avoid the Hep B. Its not in the UK schedule and you only get hep b from sharing needles and unprotected sex, no uk kids have it, so there must be a good reason not to have it. Unless you or your kids are in a high risk group.

No not high risk...The thing is if they have the first vaccination (2 months) in Belgium I have no choice as it is part of the 6in1. I'm just a bit worried about having a 6in1 at 2 months old and potentially 3 months then having the British 5in1 at 4 months. Also no meningitis C at 3 months but then having part two of the British Men C at 4 months when we're in the UK....so confusing!

Why don't you wait until you are in the UK and have them all done here? It's not a huge problem if they aren't done at exactly at exactly 2,3,4 months.

DS2 had his done at 3.5,4.5 and 5.5 months.

I'm with ihearttc. Just wait until you get to the UK.
