DD 4 has travel sickness and in our wisdom we've booked to drive to France for hols.

Any recommendations for remedies? We've tried joy rides.

Those pressure point bands worked for me since I was that age.

Still use 'em now if I'm not in the front.

Traveleeze pastilles from Boots. They're brilliant! They last for 24 hours so you can even take them the night before and they're suitable from age 2.

The only time they've failed for dd1 is when we've forgotten to give them to her until actually in the car. Joyrides didn't work at all.

I think you have to take them an hour before travelling though rather than 20 minutes before with Joyrides (from memory).

Great thanks!

We found the bands and herbal remedies were useless. It was Joyrides that worked for ds!

The way the driver drives also makes a huge difference - smooth accelerating and braking and an automatic car helps!

Grin I'll whisper the driver feedback to DH while the match is on.

I need to plan for the kind of driving being lost in the Dordogne with 2 tired/ sickly kids asking are we nearly there yet will bring.

The kids are always more sick when Dh is driving compared to me Wink

Aircon also helps!

Ginger? Maybe ginger ale if more pure ginger is too strong?

I use Traveleeze for DCs also - they are easy to take and last for ages, I wouldn't use anything else now. I have occasionally taken them myself and I don't think they make me so drowsy and thirsty as some other brands.

Ds1 is 8 and has suffered terribly since he was 3. We have found the travel bands don't work and haven't found any medicine that does other than the Phenergan he was prescribed for long haul flights (which knocked him out).

Everywhere we go he travels in the front seat regardless of length of journey. A light airy car with big windows has made a big difference. French cars were particularly bad (softer suspension?). He also never has milk before a long car journey and we have to stop every 45 mins or so to break the journey.
