strange shaped bottom (newborn) - do I need to worry?

I have been trying to google this - rather cautiously! - but can't find anything about it.

DS is a month old. As soon as he was born I thought the cleft bit at the back of his bottom looked a bit funny - kind of hard, and slightly not-finished-off-looking. But newborns often do look a bit funny, and I didn't think more of it. He was checked over by the GP (home birth), and has been looked over (not looking at/for this) by another GP too.

He's now a month old, and his bottom still looks funny. Basically it's as if the cleft bit of his buttocks continues further up his back than his buttocks do. I can't really explain it any better than that.

His legs seem perfectly strong, and he doesn't seem to be in any sort of pain/discomfort.

Has anyone else seen anything similar in one of their DCs? What was it?

And more to the point, would you leave this until his 8 week check, or make a GP appointment sooner?

Is it a sacral dimple? both my ds's had this when born and it turns out my dh has it as well as it tends to run in families. I would mention it at the next check up just to be sure.

my DD has this and so does my dad apparently -not that I've ever seen it!!!

they were much more thorough checking hips etc at the 6 week check but no problems -just one of those things

maybe it could be a sacral dimple - he's asleep now, so I can't look to see whether there's a dimpled bit. so far it looks more as if it's a long cleft, not a deep one (if you see what I mean).

ds2 has this - a convienient place for poo to get stuck imo Hmm worth asking at 8 week check (or at clinic if you are concerned)
