Basically had visitors, which unbeknownst to me had raging tonsillitus in their house.
Lo couldn't breathe properly on back, very mucousy, not settling etc, no high temp.
Took her to gp on Thursday, didn't mention tonsillitus as was knackered and just wanted gp to check her asap. He took temp, was 36.4 as it was at home, chest clear, no rashes. He said blocked sinuses and that she was fighting a virus. Told to use children's olbas oil on her pillow! Of course she doesn't have a pillow, rang hv on how to use it safely as it's says not to use on babies under 3 weeks.
Today I've come down with severe tonsillitus. When I get it I often have a low temp, uncontrollable shivering etc (currently under duvet and 2 doubled over blankets!).
Lo feels cold to the touch, she's sleeping and feeding. However she's in a vest, sleepsuit and was under 3 doubled over blankets when I asked dh to check her. He then put another blanket on her. She's just had an obviously very runny poo.
Has anybody else experienced this? I'm.thinking out of hours gp.

Hi there,
If she doesn't have a temp and she's feeding well with wet nappies, she won't have bacterial tonsillitis :)
The reason you feel cold inside is because your body is fighting the fever: trying to cool you down because you're too hot, as a result, you feel v cold, and paradoxically you then shiver...
If she feels cold to the touch, she doesn't have a fever, as she would feel hot to you.

Hope this helps reassure you, but if she goes off feeds and gets dehydrated (fewer wet nappies), then she needs to be seen again!

Hope you all feel better soon!

Thank you, we went to out of hours gp it's spread to her throat which is why she's struggling to breathe, and explains the constant throat clearing mucousy noise. She's getting antib's through my breastmilk so they're not going to start her off on them yet. Just got to keep feeding and try to keep her warm
