Help with rash and temp

Hi, really need some advice. My almost 5 year old came out of school yesterday with a big red rash on her left thigh. It doesn't hurt or itch but isn't going. It's quite a bright pink colour and hasn't spread anywhere else. This morning she woke up with high temp. Took to doc who was a bit unsure but gave her antibiotics as a precaution which she won't take. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Would be really grateful for some advice. Thank you

Firstly as I am sure you know you need to make her take the antibiotics. Never easy but we all get it down somehow - follow it with her favourite sweet or have a sweet drink ready to swallow it down with.
Could she have been bitten by anything? Might be worth giving a spoonful of Piriton?

Im confused as to why he gave her antibiotics? Just in case of what?

What is the rash like?

I think he may have thought cellulitis, a nasty skin infection (red, hot to touch, swollen, unwell). Hence antibiotics. Maybe caused be insect bite initially.

Thank you. She won't take the antibiotics. She's never ever taken anything not even calpol. I have to use suppositories. I have tried hiding it in everything, bribing her, sticker charts etc and nothing's works. Doc thinks maybe its an infection. Just spoke to him again and he said if its not better by tomorrow take her to hospital. It's all across the front of her thigh. It's not blotchy and feels hot. It's a bit like bad sunburn. Not itchy or painful and hasn't changed at all since yesterday. Not a bite and hasn't been near any plants or eaten anything out of the ordinary.

Skin infections can become very nasty. As it is hot to touch I think gp thinks cellulitis and as dd is also feverish she can get unwell very rapidly hence he is saying hospital. The original break in the skin can be almost unseeable. If it is as he thinks and she won't take oral abx she will end up on intravenous. Will this be incentive enough to persuade her to take the meds?

Get a marker pen and outline the red area and if it's spreading and she still won't take meds you need to take action sooner.

No, unfortunately not. I even took her tobthe toy shop, let her choose something and said I would keep it for her untilnshe takes medicine. Been looking up celulitis and rash looks very similar but her's isn't painful or bothering her at all and all the websites say celulitis is painful.

That is a good idea. She fell asleep. Just given her paracetamol suppository as temp going up. Will get market pen out. Have a friend who is a doc coming at 6 so will see what he says otherwise may still take her to A&E just in case. Thank you do much xxx
