Hi,

Both DSs have regular checks at the dentist - they are both always pronounced to have very healthy teeth, no signs of decay etc. They brush twice a day.

I've noticed recently that DS1's front teeth are very yellow. Much more than mine....

Google searchs attribute it to thin enamel, taking antibiotics as a baby, too much fluoride, not sure that applies....they also suggest getting him to use a whitening toothpaste.

Anyone elses child have this issue? And anyone have a solution they can suggest?

TIA

Bloss

is it his new adult teeth? It could just be that they look yellow in comparison to the very white baby teeth that they are sitting beside. DD (8) has adult front teeth that look yellow but the dentist didnt seem bothered by it.

In contrast ds (5) has a lack of enamel on his first 2 adult molars that have come through and has had a toothpaste prescribed by the dentist that has 5000ppm fluoride in it to try to help minimise damage to them.

Take him to the dentist to double check but it could just be the normal colour of his teeth and they will look whiter as he loses his other baby teeth and gains more adult teeth

I have always had yellow teeth... although very healthy. I'm 26 and i've never had a filling etc.

A lot of it comes down to genetic factors (from what I've heard). Teeth come in different colours and variants.

If the dentist isn't worried then you shouldn't worry either.

The only thing I can suggest is either teeth bleaching, which is potentially very harmful to the teeth, or veneers which are very expensive.

Either way I think it would be a choice for him to make when he's old enough to do so.

DS' teeth attract an unbelievable build up of plaque over the course of the day. Dentist recommended an electric toothbrush and its fab. Realise you are probably talking about the enamel but thought it worth mentioning.

My DD had this with her new front teeth. I asked the dentist about it and he said that when they come through they are prone to staining as the surfaces are rough. He polished them, and now they are as white as her milk teeth.
