My daughter age 3 had a temperature and dodgy urine almost 2 weeks ago ( whilst in hosptal after an operation, not related to kidneys, bladder etc!) they dipsticked a sample and it had blood, white blood cells and leucocytes in it, so they sent it off to the lab.

Her temperature recovered and we went home before the lab result was back, she starting wetting herself and was a bit off, so I phoned for the result to be told it wasnt back , so I handed another sample into my GP ( partly becasue I wondered if the 1st had been lost!) GP phones a week later to say it shows red/ white an dleucocyted again and asks my husband what does he want her to do?? He says sent it to the lab? so another sample has gone for that!

She has had three UTI's , two of which ended up in hospital for IV antibiotics. She isnt ill as such but can you have these in urine without it being an infection?

yes you can, especially if they have had a recent infection

they used to prescribe on white blood cells alone but that is less common now

if she is getting repeated UTIs have you considered taking a long term antibiotic?

my DD when she was the same age got repeated UTIs (only time she ever wet herself) and had a 6 month course of antibiotics -she was like a different child as I genuinely hadn't realised how often she had been getting low level infections
