DD is nearly 6. 6 wks ago, took her to the Dr as she had some hearing probs. we're told ear looked red, given antibiotics. Since then , has got progressively worse, especially after cold. Took her back, was told is possibly fluid, couldn't see as wax but just to wait. Asked for recommendation of wax removing drops and bought some. Is there anything else I could be doing? It is driving us all potty and DD's behaviour has really deteriorated too.

OLIVO, don't you just love doctors who just love to wait and wait and hope that nature takes its course, change doctor, see another doctor, problem may come and go but why oh why do so many doctors just like to wait and see? get another doctor. Friend of mine told 2 year old just over weight so changed doctor within a couple of weeks boy diagnosed with MPS a very serious illness, now healthy 11 year old who gets treatment every week, friend was glad to see incompetent doctors surgery now closed, it made her smile. No get another doctor who will do something

Yes, I agree.

My DS has cerebral palsy. They told me to wait when he was six months old to see if his left hand (which at age 5 still has no fine motor skills) would 'catch up' with the right.

My instinct was not to wait and Im so glad we didn't. As soon as we got referred to a hospital about it they diagnosed him with CP. As soon as we found out his diagnosis we started therapies to help him and without such an early start he would not be as able as he now is.

Push for an ENT referral and hearing test. By the time appointments come round it may have cleared up but if not it'll need sorting.

thank you. we are having a really hard time of it as her behaviour is also awful, and has been since the deafness. I will book an appt with another dr nex tweek. it bugs me as we have to pay for GP ( not in UK) so it gets expensive when you have to get a second opinion.

bless her, behavioural problems are very common with hearing problems. if we have a child with behavioural problems at nursery we always suggest a hearing test. i agree to push for referral.

I will. she was discharged by ENT last year, so hopefully as she is somehwere on their system, it might not take forever. I am booking in with a different dr, who knows me and DD a little better.

I fear it will be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng BH weekend though!
