OK went out yesterday, all fine, took packed lunch - we both had the same. All fine still. Got home about half four. I nipped to shops about 20 past 5 and back just before 6 - in which time he had been sick (never been sick in his life!) and was sat in it. Cleaned him up - just kept bringing up any water, funny colour but not too bad in himself kept bit of ater down at about half ten last night slept until half five but had done an explosve trump in the night - enough to dirty him but he wasn't covered. Cleaned him up, put him in our bed and he slept til about half seven.

Quite happy this morning, looks tired. Asks for some water and keeps it dwn - goes to loo loose but not diahorrea. Asks for toast but he can't eat it and is very lethargic, not been sick again then askshurtso carry him to bed. I asked him if anything hurts, no nothing. Just went to check on him, took temp - seems normal. Asked him again about things hurting, says his ear hurts but he's half asleep - no rash or anything. The only thing that got me is that his sick did not smell at all - I really struggle with sick but it just ddn't smell.

Just a bug you reckon? I find it so hard as he is never ill! Sad

Sounds like a normal virus to me ( have 6 of my own!). You are doing everything right, keep encouraging him to drink.
He may be brewing an ear infection so if that gets more painful or his temp increases get that checked.

ok thanks! He is fast asleep now. have worked with children for nearly 20 years lol, just a bit different when it's your own and never had non smelling sick.

Not sure I read your post right, and maybe I have misunderstood, but I was a bit confused when you said ' I nipped to shops about 20 past 5 and back just before 6 - in which time he had been sick (never been sick in his life!) and was sat in it'. Did you leave a four year old by himself for 40 minutes while you 'popped' to the shops??

eastendywendy · 31/05/2012 17:42

I wondered the same as poptart.

maxybrown · 31/05/2012 19:37

Thanks for the advice that I asked for Hmm no of course I did not leave my 4 year old alone

Now when I read that I immediately assumed you popped to the shop and of course had left him with daddy... Etc!
Had to be someone to 'pick' on that bit didn't there... Reminds me of the particular girls at school who made an issue of anything and everything just for an argument.

Hope he feels better very soon x

maxybrown · 31/05/2012 20:11

yeah thanks Twilight! I just included some er irrelevant stuff in my rushed post - he was genuinely bad this morning, very lethargic etc, has perked up loads now thankfully!

I think it was the fact you said 'in which time' and then 'he was sat in it' which caused confusion. I don't think there's any need to be so defensive, it was asked nicely enough. Sadly some people do leave their kids alone.

I'm glad he feels better.

maxybrown · 01/06/2012 07:43

I know but it was a bit off when I asked for advice on an ill child and 2 people just picked my post apart and didn't offer any practical advice - I was genuinely worried about him yesterday.

I am a long time poster on Mumsnet, I work with children and my DH is a teacher. I am not sure how the words "in which time" insinuate a child has been left on his own? I didn't actually mean to put in the sat in it bit - he was, but that was his choice as he wouldn't let DH near him, he wanted me - now that doesn't make my DH some big scary monster, I'm just not going into the whys and wheres of the reason he sat in the sick/or wouldn't let DH near him! if the "right" person was not there, my son would drag a broken leg around after himself - but that's a whole other story!

No-one picked your post apart. We wondered that's all. For example had you left him alone he could have ingested something which made him sick. Obviously you didn't thankfully but like I say, some people do.

Glad he's better.

twilight81 · 01/06/2012 17:11

I'm sure the sort of mother who leaves her children alone wouldn't be worryingly posting on mumsnet for advice on her unwell son.

maxybrown · 01/06/2012 17:40

eastend - you are missing my point - neither of you offered me ANY helpful advice on what I asked about, were just a bit Hmm that I may have left him alone. And where did you say, "was he left alone? Could he have ingested something? " you just agreed with the previous poster who went on about me "popping" to the shops..........................anyway, next time I'll aim for AIBU

Well, I'm sorry if you were offended, I was confused. Not really worth all this tbh.
