So my daughter Is a year old. Last couple of mornings iv woke up to her being sick. She was ok yesterday but today she's not herself. She's been off food for about 2days now.
She's completly gone off liquids today too! She has no energy and just lies there, and it's like she can't get comfy always fidgeting and winging. However she hasn't go a temperature as its at 36.5.

I'm debating wether to get a doctor out?
Advice please

If she won't drink at all, then you need to take her to the GP. You don't need to call one out.

Try syringing or spooning a little bit of liquid into her mouth. Little and often. Make sure she has at least one wee within the next 6 hours. Make some dilute squash if it is more tempting for her
If you are very concerned speak to GP over the phone or ring NHS Direct

I don't drive and not sure I want to take her out Whilst she's being sick:/

Loui - I am afraid it's up to you to get her to the dr if you think she needs it, certainly doesn't sound ill enough to warrant a home visit.

I would just try syringing fluid and then keep an eye on her nappies, as long as she is having regular wet nappies I wouldn't worry to much.

What she is experiencing is not unusual and happens to all childrren every now and then. A Uk GP is highly unlikely to do a home visit in such circumstances - if we all asked for home visits in those circumstances then the costs to the NHS would sky rocket. I would give her lollies and maybe some rehydration sachets and just keep an eye on her but if she seems very lethargic or increasingly unresponsive I would seek medical help.

sounds like a bug, i would try sips of water or an ice lolly if she wont drink.

you can get those rehydration things as well they are good.

you cant have a home visit, you have to take her out and take a change of clothes, wet wipes etc incase she is sick tbh, been there myself, its not pleasant but yo uwont get a home visit.

Okay thank you all for the advice. She's not keeping any fluids down. I worry soo much becos I nearly lost her when she was born as she was very ill. She has 7magor things wrong. She still has a hole in her heart. She had pneumonia, chest and lung Infevtion and much more. She was on all medication you can think of and couldn't breathe for herself. So I just worry, a little too much

how much are you letting her drink? the best thing is TINY amounts very often ie 5-10ml of water every 10-15mins or so, she should be able to keep that down but if you let her have a proper drink ie a few mouthfulls its more likely that she will bring it back up.

you are right to be concerned, try tiny amounts of fluid and maybe an ice lolly for her to suck on, and take her to the gp if you are concerned they can prescribe the rehydration stuff so you wont have to pay for it :)

Loubilouu · 30/05/2012 13:43

She's had little sips every 5-10mins. Will try her with an ice Lolly in a minute. Thank you! I'm
Awaiting a phone call from the GP, and hopefully will be getting a lift there.
Just horrible seeing someone so small looking helpless bless her:(

I can understand your concern. I think when they have given you one fright you panic about everything else more (I know i do with Ds).

Try the little and often approach to fluids, don't offer food unless she asks, and keep an eye for signs of dehydration. If your worried about dehydration get her seen by the gp/a and e

Hope she is ok

Got told she had a viral infection.. However I'm now worried because iv seen a thread about people saying the GP Said it was viral infection, & yet turnt out to be pneumonia. Which my daughter had when she was born! What's the probabilities of this happening to her? She was screaming in pain early tonight:-( hope shes Guna be ok!
