The 7 yr old DC of a friend has just broken his arw. It is in an L-shaped plaster. We're all going camping next weekend and they are trying to think of one handed things to bring to entertain him so he doesn't get too down watching his mates hurtalling about on bikes and swimming.

He's a real computer addict, and although his parents wouldn't normally let him play on a computer all weekend of a camping trip, it might be the only way to keep him entertained without doing himself any further damage. Thing is, the DS requires 2 hands. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much for all your fantastic ideas! I have made a big long list of all your ideas and am going shopping later. I'll probably end up spending a fortune! Love the idea of kites for both, yoyo for 7 yr old, bowls, jenga and I'll be buying bus stop as I love orchard toys and like the idea that they can play together.

I definitely think it's the right decision to take them. There's a massive group going and they have been so excited. Might have to have a day trip or 2 out which we might not have done with Jo broken bones!

Wish me luck!

Yes I want to re-animate an old thread. Feel a fraud as have registered but am a grandma not mum of child in question. Will have my 7 yr old grandson to stay for a week soon and he has just broken wrist - so has arm in plaster. Daughter says she has problems getting clothes over the cast. He is coming to stay with me in a rural often rainy area - and all activities planned were outdoor activities - have been thinking about buying a couple fleeces and cutting seams - sticking up with velcro etc but am sure some of you mums have recetn experience - how have you coped?
