Advice needed about spreading rash

Dd rolled in cut grass on Thursday and came home with a few spots. Had a shower and all seemed calm. Came home yesterday with a few more spots, had shower, bought piriton and all seemed ok. Got up this morning complaining of aching ankles and around some itchy spots - gave piriton.
About an hour ago more itchy spots so went to pharmacy and bought antihistamine cream on their advice.
In the last half hour she has developed loads more itchy spots.

She has had chicken pox a few years ago and has just recently recovered from as nasty strep vaginal infection.

Any ideas on what caused it?

Erm, can't be bothered to name change, but we just had similar. After much googling realised it was scabies, treated with lyclear, and now rash is clearing up. DD was literally covered with spots

Thanks. I have googled scabies but it isnt in the typical places for scabies so not sure.

Hayfever can cause that.

turnigitonitshead · 26/05/2012 16:03

I was going to say grass alergy, I have hayfever and im tired and achy

rainbowinthesky · 26/05/2012 16:04

She doesnt have any other symptoms of hay fever although it makes sense it's related to grass.

Most of her spots have little red centres.

hayfever symptoms are so varied for different people.

rainbowinthesky · 26/05/2012 16:22

Could it be grass allergy from Thursday? I am having to apply cream on new spots every 15 minutes or so.

does she have a fever and inflamed spots across her nose and cheeks? it could be LUPUS but I would imagine she would be pretty unwell if it where.

SofiaAmes · 26/05/2012 16:32

It's not uncommon to get a rash after a strep infection or fever. One type is Roseola. You can also get Rheumatic Fever. Please take your dd to the GP as the rash could have bad complications.

SofiaAmes · 26/05/2012 16:34

That is, rash may have nothing to do with rolling in the grass and everything to do with strep infection, in which case you really need to bring her to the doctor.

AdventuresWithVoles · 26/05/2012 16:38

wouldn't she have other symptoms of illness (fever or feeling bad in herself) if it was Roseola/Rheumatic fever?

rainbowinthesky · 26/05/2012 16:48

Thanks all. Spoke to the pharmacy on the phone who saw her earlier and explained she's continued to get more spots and she said to phone gp so phone out of hours service who have arranged for me to take her in for 6.30.

She seems fine in herself and although her body feels hot she doesnt have a temperature. Ate her lunch fine. No rash over nose although a spot on her lip. Probably about 40 spots all in all.

ah hope it turns out be nothing to be concerned about OP, let us knoe how she gets on.

rainbowinthesky · 26/05/2012 16:53

Thanks all. Tbh I am not worried as she is happily singing to herself watching tv in my room. I would have assumed it was chicken pox had she not already had it.

Just got back. Gp said not hives, chicken pox etc. Cant know for sure but thinks it's a reaction to her tablets she takes for GERD. She needs to keep taking tablets so can only try to manage side effects. The red bits are because the spots are infected so he's given her a long lasting antihistamine liquid and a cream to put on which has steroids and antibiotics in it. She cant have the antihistamine till the morning so will have to itch over night.
