Hello,
I have just been informed that on saturday we will receive the first treatment growth hormone treatment supply. My mind has gone completely blank and I need whatever suggestions you may have. My 3 year old has been diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency in March. We will start the treatment in the next few days. I have postpone explanining this to him but I need to tell him now the problem is HOW?? I dO not really know. I do not what to mention injections he had to be hospitalised a few months ago and he is traumatised about the experience. Any ideas/ suggestions?

I'm not experienced with this, so this is just an idea :)

My own DD has had health trouble since very small, though nothing like this, but I have found explaining things to her in a simple, "non human" way worked best when she was tiny & ALWAYS with the prefix, because you are special :)

I would suggest trying some gardening with him before you go...

get some plug plants & re pot them - get some root boost or other type of fertiliser & get him to help you to repot the plants & let him put the fertiliser in the new pot himself - explain to him what this is for & how it helps the plant grow big & strong -

you can then lead onto telling him that most people are born with their own fertiliser hidden inside there bodies - but SPECIAL Children, who have big hearts, big brains because they are clever at XYZ - (fill this bit in with something that fits your DS Wink - don't have enough room to store enough fertiliser, so like plants they need to be given extra to help them grow - you can then explain that happens at the hospital etc

HTH & hope it all goes well for you & your DS
