DD is 4yrs and has got diarrhoea(sp?) She is a bit peaky looking and has been badly behaved so not herself atm. She hasn't been sick and doesn't feel sick but her tummy hurts.

She is still jumping around the sitting room though!

Can I give calpol for tummy ache and the runs?

What can I give her for dinner? We were going to have stirfry, maybe just some noodles? Or would something quite salty be better?

mrsnou i always gave mine dry toast....if they could handle that about an an hour later would give them a plain dry biscuit....

keep her diet quite plain for next few days such as boiled fish and potatoes, soup, nothing fried, oily or salty...

have you given her any diarolyte to replenish chemicals in her bodily fluids

make sure you dd has plenty of water to drink...

hope your dd gets better soon xxx

Plenty of water, diarolyte or similar, calpol for tummy ache is fine, no dairy or acidic food.

I offer dd plain food such as toast, a biscuit, plain chicken and rice etc.

Thank you.
She has had no loss of appetite at all, has had a glass of apple high juice squash and a chocolate biscuit just before she had a 'poocident'

I know she would not eat dry toast at all, she barely eats it with just butter on!

Bananas, apple, rice and toast is usually the recommendation

CervixWithASmile · 21/05/2012 19:30

Yes, what Dikker says, called the BRAT diet :) Apple sauce particularly good.

MrsNouveauRichards · 21/05/2012 20:18

Thanks. She had a decent amount of plain noodles and a small yoghurt (she begged for it!) And has spent the evening prancing around and playing on the trampoline. Oh, and half a banana.

I don't think she really has a bug as such, just that she is tired and quite run down. We have had problems with ds going to sleep at night which affects DD and he has been waking her in the mornings at least half an hour earlier than she would like.

Going to keep on with the plain food and a quiet couple of days and hope she perks up a bit. It is almost easier when they are being sick, because they can just eat as and when they feel like it, but it is hard to get a 4yr old to make the connection between a poorly bum and what she eats!

up to date advice is to feed if hungry and to give the normal diet (within reason!). Starchy foods are good e.g. pasta, rice, potatoes, toast, etc

MrsNouveauRichards · 22/05/2012 07:18

Thank you.

She is still asleep this morning despite her brothers best efforts, so obviously something going on. Hoping a quiet few days may perk her up.

My DD is coeliac, so poorly Tim quite a lot. We go for plain boiled rice as a good option. U can put half a veggie stock cube in to make it more tasty... DD loves it so much it's a struggle to get her to eat anything else! Grin

The Spanish suggest rice, apples and ham. My sis swears by it. If the "patient" is really pukey, and not keeping anything down, try cola and crisps - don't ask why this works, but sometimes it does.
Glad to hear your DD seems better

MrsNouveauRichards · 22/05/2012 16:57

Cola and crisps were my hangover cure! :o
