A very moany (poorly?!) 2.5 year old little boy

Hello, I'm new to this but hoping some people out there may be able to help/reassure me...
My little boy has screamed, cried and moaned solid for the last 3-4 days, waking alot in night doing the same. He's generally a sensitive little soul anyway but this is extreme, driving me around the bend TBF!
I switch between thinking he's faking, doing it for attention and that he may be really ill?!

Not sure how relevant it is but last week his face got sunburnt, really cold day but the sun came in and out and he was out most of day, I just didn't think :-(
The next day, he came down with a terrible bug, feverish, sick and tired/weak. We have all had this and just expected he had caught same bug but it's now 7 days later and he's still going.
He's hot to touch but no temperature, pale in face and sluggish, he's just screaming and crying non stop!!!!

I'm sorry I've gone on and on, can anyone out there help me?! Xx

I would take him to be checked out at the gp. I don't think young toddlers are really capable of waking screaming in the way you describe without something being wrong.

teeth? has he got his molars through yet?

stressheaderic · 20/05/2012 14:15

My DD is 2.3 and the same just recently. She is also dribbling and has a runny nose and we think it may be her back teeth. It's been hard going lately.

I think I will take him to the GP (although mine is rubbish and poo poo's everything), he seems to be getting worse, been off food for days now, his lips are slightly swollen and badly chapped and he complains of painful head, tummy and willy?
Just checked and his molars appear to be through, he is nearer 2 and 3/4 and can communicate well.

I am getting a little concerned now, do u know if health visitors can refer and give medical advice, I'm reluctant to go to GP as I know he'll say it's just a cold... :-(

Could you ring NHS direct for some advice - they may refer you to an ooh service - another pair of eyes to look at him maybe?

The number is 0845 46 47 - it will at least be a different opionion.

What is he drinking like? Just wondering if he could be dehydrated with the painful head and dry lips.

If it were me I would definitely be doing this.

Good luck xx

Who would you want the HV to refer to?

fannybaws · 20/05/2012 21:01

Please go to another gp then, he could have an ear/ urine/ anything infection.
You seem to have no faith in your gp so change practises if possible.
Tonight I would take him to out of hours tbh, good luck.

Thanks everyone, I rung NHS direct who did say he must be seen so I took him my GP who said he just had a sore throat and ear and continue with the calpol.
3 days on and the situation is totally the same, he's in agony (although I think he is also shouting alot out of bad habit but I'll sort that out when he's better!!)
I've just taken him to my mums doctor who has said he's got a nasty ear infection, close to bursting and prescribed antibiotics! Fingers crossed as I can't bear him being so poorly.

My GP will be getting a piece of my mind and I think a change of practice is in order!!
