One leg slightly longer than the other

Any tips in helping DS1 with this? His unequal leg lengths have contributed to him having a very pronounced tiptoe preference in his shorter leg. Does he need an insert in his shoe?

I had the same problem when I was about 14 after being knocked down and breaking both legs. One grew and the other didn't. I had a difference of 1 1/4 inches and initially coped quite well with adapted shoes that were built up internally, until it eventually affected my hips. I had surgery at 18 to shorten one leg and have been fine since. Not saying surgery for your DS would be the answer, it would depend on the amount of difference in length. If it's causing him problems maybe it would be worth getting an orthopaedic referral?

MrsJamin - I agree with kaiser regarding getting a referral - if his leg length is causing him to tiptoe a shoe raise may well be a good idea. LLD can cause lower back problems, hip issues and scoliosis.

My dd had a significant LLD and wore a shoe raise (internal and external) until she had surgery at 12 to even her up.
