Penicillin V for throat infection would clear up chest infection too wouldn't it?

Gp says dd (17 months) has throat infection, a different gp said it was tonsillitis (first gp said it's def not tonsils) and for what it's worth I think it's a wheezy chest infection. Anyway she's been given a course of Penicillin V. Am I right in thinking that would clear it up whichever of the three it is anyway?

I don't know what penicillin v is?

Amoxycillin for example would clear any of those up.

Yes I think so , to be sure it usually tells you on the leaflet you get with it Smile Hope their better soon .

That's a good idea - didn't think to read the leaflet Blush

Thank you

Amoxicillin is a form of penicillin. It should do the job whichever is infected.

It will only work on the bacteria that it is designed to work upon.
Otherwise we could prescribe any old antibiotic for any infection. They may not be the same infecting organism.

Also it is perfectly feasible for one infection to be bacterial and another viral, the latter for which antibiotics have no use.
