5 year old leaking urine between toilet trips

Any experience with this? DD has had an op in that area and is due more in five years or so so I have asked to be referred back to the surgeon to check all is ok with that but as far as I know it isn't common to have problems with it and she has been dry in the day since 2.10.

I am worried as its not something that will be sorted quickly I don't think and she seems to have no control over it. She is going to school in sanitary pads to catch the leakage. She has SN so has a support worker who will change her pads but its such a step back for her.

The GP has tested her wee for infection and found none but has sent off the sample to the lab to be sure I'm worried at how suddenly this has got bad, she's been dribbling urine for a few months but its got worse and suddenly she is so bad with it she needs pads Sad any experience with this anyone? She wees normally on the toilet in between and doesn't seem to notice the leakage.

and just seen my typo-I meant don't think she has any control over it. She doesn't even notice so it seems not anyway. She was wet within ten mins of a bath the other day and its a dribble rather than full wee but enough to go through her knickers.

Is it possible she is constipated?

used2bthin · 10/05/2012 16:05

hi itsallgoingtobefine, I should have said-she is on movicol for chronic constipation but I gave extra over the weekend to make sure and she has been going regularly since so I don't think its that but am keeping an eye on it as its affected her bladder control before, nver this badly though.

I'm sorry, I don't really know what I am talking aboutt.

But if she has had OP in area, and you are concerned this could be contributory, then you should push for some sort of specialist referral.

Also, if she has SN is it worth posting this on the SN boards. The MNers there doknow what they are talking about.

Thanks yes I have posted over on SN boards too. GP will refer us back to her surgeon but apparently it isnt common to have problems with it due to/prior to the op, we will see though. And thank you, the constipation thing was a good chance and not something you'd immediately think of causing bladder issues.
