He is 2.5, has chicken pox, has it in his mouth, as well as lots of other areas. Currently not asleep partly due to epic 3 hour sleep today (after not sleeping last night) an partly because his mouth/gums/teeth are hurting him (ouchy itchy he calls it).

Anyway, I have piriton, which is absolutely foul. So, now not only is he refusing to take this he is refusing to take all medicine. I got him to take it last night by literally forcing it down him, upside down, with him screaming, howling and spitting like I was trying to poison him, gagging. and then sobbing for ages afterwards. He was distraught. It helped reduce his fever (calpol) and help with the itching, and today he has been ok. but now, clearly he needs it again. I was hoping to get away with it. DD is asleep and his noise will wake her and upset her too.

I am going to have to make him hate me again aren't i Sad. (now, I know that he won't really hate me, but thats how I feel as I am spending 15 mins forcing stuff down his throat). Anyone want to hold my hand?

I literally had to hold my dd down to put drops in her ears with all my strength. It was a year ago and I still feel horrible about it now, like I betrayed her trust Sad.

However I would rather that than her hearing in that ear be impaired, which was a very real danger as she had had an operation on it. I only hope she doesn't remember and hate me for it when shes older.

I was just going to suggest a syringe, as Seventh said. My 4yo DS still has medicine in a syringe if it's one he doesn't like the taste of, much easier to squirt down the throat and mostly miss the tongue, without the worry of choking them with a spoon Confused
Hope he's better soon, OP. Sounds like an improvement from yesterday anyway Smile

Pavlov, hope your DS has improved as the CP has progressed.
Towards the last day of itching, this was the very deceitful clever way I used to give her her Piriton:
Plonk her in front of the TV - Peppa Pig or whatever keeps her distracted.
Start spoon-feeding yoghurt or something she likes.
4th spoon would be Piriton & honey.
Cue utter shock/horror/tears but at least most of it would go down and we used to cut out the dread/anticipation out completely.

Now if only I could think of something for the eye drop administration.
