Gastroenteritis - severe tummy pain - vomiting after 4 days (11yrs DS)

Is there anything else I can do except watch and wait and start trying him with dioralyte?

Since babyhood, he's vomited with disgust at dioralyte - so GPs suggested flat coca cola/lucozade. Day 4 of this virus and he's worse in terms of vomiting and writhing on floor moaning in agony with tummy pain. Gave Calpol (sort that dissolve on tongue) but made him feel more sick. Worried he's dehydrating.

Don't want to go to OOHs service as it's long drive away, have another DC with Asperger's - who's acting up through lack of attention - and know they'll just say give him fluids. Alone with no support so having to cope with DCs demands and sick DS.

DS last had something similar that lasted 9 days of constant vomiting and we were in A & E at midnight (no fun with other DCs too!). Really hope it's not going to be another of those marathons.

Any ideas how to help his pain and to rehydrate when he just keeps throwing everything up?

Has he got any abdominal pain? Could be appendicitis, I would seek medical advice, as it often presents atypically.

He says it's more nausea/ wanting to vomit, than just pain. He's been extremely nauseous and vomiting today since around 1pm and it's not letting up. Currently, he's sitting on toilet floor and other than this moment, I've spent most of the day with him, helping him to wipe his mouth between vomits.

DC with Asperger's has watched 12 hrs screens so far and withdrawn into self - so worrying about him too but can't do anything much for him whilst nursing sick son. Really really don't want to drag us all out to docs. but still uncertain what to do for the best.

Do I force dioralyte now, even if he vomits constantly between sips?

I would seek medical advice. Appendicitis is very dangerous, the previous occurance could have been it grumbling. www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Appendicitis/Pages/Symptoms.aspx
