NITS! NITS! NITS! What would you recommend to use to get rid of them?

Just discovered DS1 has hair lodgers. Blush

He's 5. Never had them before and I'm going out first thing in the morning to pick something up to sort it out.

What shampoo etc would you recommend? Or avoid?

Thanks in advance!

Wouldn't waste any money on head lice products other than the nitty gritty comb, Boots have them & conditioner. I use leave in conditioner sometimes on my dd's as don;t always have to have a bath after then.

This wont be much use to you but when my DD was young she always got nits in the summer months and i used everything. But as shes got older she uses hair straightners, gel, hairspray, curling spray, straightening spray, serums, you name it shes uses it and she never gets nits anymore. Its definitely true when 'they' say nits love clean hair.

as others have said, nitty gritty and conditioner. wet comb every day till nothing more, eggs or lice is coming out, then just nit comb once a week.

i use tea tree on my 2, nits are supposed to not like the smell but that may be an old wives tale!

white vinegar rinsed through their hair if you struggle with combing

boys I find are actually harder to comb as they aren't used to so much faff with their hair.

the vinegar disolves the glue and makes the eggs really easy to comb out

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 03/05/2012 22:24

Thanks for that.

I was going to get one of the shampoos but I'll get the comb and hopefully that will work.

So, put conditioner on hair, comb through thoroughly. Repeat the combing every day for a week?

Just the comb pulls out the lice and eggs? Don't need anything else?

Do have some tt stuff I might try too.
