Hello, I'm new to mums net, I'm looking forward to being a part of this community.

I have a question about MRI Scans... My daughter has to have a contrast MRI scan on her knees and she has a duplex kidney on one side and a kidney with scarring on the other side. After reading this.... www.ehow.com/about_5474651_mri-contrast-problems.html

I am concerned that the stuff they use in the dye could cause her kidneys further complications.

My daughter is ASD and diagnosed with Chronic Pain, she has some flexion of her knees and pain everywhere. She has spina bifida occulta which is ok apparently to have this. When she does any exercise she goes grey, retches and has to rest, this would be for 3 minutes exercise that's it.

I'm really worried about letter her have this dye put into her system.... I have asked the CP waiting to hear back.. I didn't want to bother the PR again.

The other worry is she's needle phobic and how in hells name is she going to keep still for the scan after having the dye put in I don't know. I'm not even sure they will get it in.... I'm hoping she can have a general for it...

Has anyone gone through this before ?

When my DD had her MRI they gave her a general. She already had a central line in at that point but has been anaesthetised with gas before then come back with a line in before for other procedures, so putting her under first and then popping in the line may be an option. I'm afraid I don't know about the contrast medium for the MRI but I would hope the paediatrician will be able to discuss that further with you. I hope you get some reassurance from them and that things go well for your DD.
