Eczema and school residential trips

Hi. Primary age ds is due to go on a residential trip in year 6, he is currently year 5.
He has eczema which is quite well controlled but requires daily creaming.
Some of the worst of it is on his back which he just can't reach for himself. Should an adult in the group do it for him? At our school staff are not allowed to apply sun cream.
I also think he may feel slightly uncomfortable if a member of staff does it but going without any cream for the trip wouldn't be ideal.

Has anyone been in the same position? What did you do?
ThanksSmile

Does he have a friend who would be sensible enough to do it for him?

I would go into school and discuss it with them (and him) and find the solution which works best for your DS and for the school in a child protection sense.

Thanks Sirzy. He does have a friend who might be able to do it.

Will be discussing it with him and the school. Can't imagine he would be the first to need this.

We had this with dd and in our case a school governor/parent who was also a nurse was asked to come as a helper on the trip. If you give permission and your ds is comfortable with another adult helping with his cream, there shouldn't be an issue.

Ok, thanks pinkorkid. I will need to find out who is going.
