Hello
My 7yr old son has always been a bit of a hot and sweaty thing and has cotton sheets, pillow covers etc and I often turn his pillow when I go to bed as it is damp.
Last night however, which was a cold night, he went to bed in pants only, normal duvet and cover, but came in to us in the middle of the night soaking, and the bed was wet through. He hadn't wet the bed but had just been sweating a lot. He didn't have a temperature and hasn't been I'll.
He hadn't had a bad dream and went to sleep again fine.
Has anyone got any ideas or thoughts?

sounds just like mine! the HV used to tell us when he was a baby that he must be wetting himself as babies dont sweat. Well ours did!
Is it a feather or synthetic duvet? We use a light summer feather duvet and the sheets from a special range that M&S do that claims to keep you cool. Works sometimes but not all the time. I also have the radiator turned off in his room, the door open and the window open until he goes to bed.

Thanks Sherbertpips. He has always been like it but last night was extreme and weird that it was so cold and he hadn't gone to bed in anything except his pants!
I have seen those sheets in m&s and i'll check his duvet-again when we got it I knew what he was like so opted for a suitable one. I am also going to leave off his mattress protector although that is cotton, and see if that makes a difference. Fingers crossedx

I wonder whether it was actually because of the cold room? I think sometimes when you get into a cold bed, the body's thermostat whacks up the temperature ie overreacts, so the combined effect of this and a duvet is sweating. My DS seems to sweat after going to sleep but within an hour or so cools down, I think once the body thermostat normalises. I wonder what you mean by your DS waking in the middle of the night? Is it nearer the beginning of the night?
Also, I wouldn't worry too much about a one -off ( he could be fighting something off without being ill), but if it keeps happening, you should probably see your GP.

The other thing which has just occurred to me is that my DS seems to sweat more when he only wears pants ie bare chest, but less when he wears a t-shirt. Not sure why, but it seems that way, so you could try putting your DS in a t-shirt for bed?
