17month old exhausted & not eating

Hi all,
I would really appreciate your thoughts on what could be going on with my 17month old DS. He had an ear infection two weeks ago which culminated in a perforated eardrum and was on antibiotics for a week (finished last Friday). He woke up vomiting on Thursday night, refused to eat on Friday & seemed exhausted. More projectile vomiting on Friday night and since then is refusing to eat anything substantial. He has eaten some fruit and bread but bats away anything else that's offered. He's sipping water but not his usual voracious drinking, so not as many wet nappies. He just seems so tired and clingy, and just wants to be cuddled all the time. Don't think he's teething (has loads of teeth!) but its possible-I've never seen him like this before though. Could be that he's just recovering from the infection but it seems so odd since he's finished antibiotics & temp isn't high (mid 37). He's been at the doctors so many times over the past few weeks that we're reluctant to bring him if he just needs time but I might phone GP tomorrow to see what he thinks. Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar to try to allay my worries! Thanks!

DS2 (20 months) has had similar aftermath to a much milder infection a couple of weeks ago, today is the first day we finally seem to be coming out of it where he's eaten three proper, albeit smaller, meals and seems much brighter. I've been assuming he just needs time, been focussing on getting fluids in (used a nurofen syringe to squirt in orange squash on Wednesday Grin), and have let him eat anything he fancies- cheerios for dinner. (Orange squash and cheerios- you can tell he's a second child!Grin). It seems to be a vicious circle, the less they eat, the more tired they get and the less they can be bothered to eat.

Do keep a close eye on him though, particularly on fluid intake.

Thanks RWC that's reasuring, I guess it could just be him taking some time to recover-he was very miserable with his ear. Just so not used to him not eating & being so tired. I'll keep an eye on his fluid intake & make the most of the cuddles-the one positive side effect of a poorly toddler! Hope your little one is back to himself soon!
