dry, red, flaky patch of skin on DS2's cheek

ds2 has food intolerances. I noticed when he ate any of his problem foods this small patch on his cheek would flare up, it was about the size of a 5p, and would fade within a couple of days.

it flared up again a few weeks ago, but instead of fading it has got bigger and bigger... what could it be?
i'm not sure how/if to treat it, or if we need to see the GP- we try not to unless absolutely necessary!

could be impetigo, which can be treated with cream from GP

Might be a small patch of eczema which is now infected - if so it should clear up quickly with some antibiotic cream from the doc. If it is getting bigger I would definitely get it seen :)

No idea, but our ds gets this too! doesn't seem to be linked to any food, so we've wondered about excema? Be interested to know what your DS's is of you go to your gp!

thanks all. i googled impetigo, but it doesn't look quite like that (scientific i know! lol)

i need to go into town tomorrow so i think i'll take him into the pharmacy and see if they can give me anything for it, or if not i'll make a GP appointment.

I second eczema - DS cheeks flared up over a period of a week and as it didn't hurt or itch prescribed 1% hydrocortisone cream, needed to be applied sparingly twice a day for up to 6 days. I stopped applying on day 4

Go and see GP :)

spoke to pharmacist today and she recommended some e45 to apply, but if it gets any worse, or doesn't start to clear up then we'll go and see the GP
