Chicken pox - should I see OOH doc?

DD is 3yo and has developed spots on her torso and head that look like chicken pox. She has no other symptoms and is perfectly well in herself.

Should I call the OOH docs to get her diagnosed or wait until tomorrow?

If she's otherwise well I wouldn't go to OOH. I'm not even sure I'd take her at all to be honest.

No need for doc at all really. Especially if she is fine in herself. just keep her in until all spots have dried up.

Unless any of the spots look infected, she won't eat or drink or she starts sounding chesty, I wouldn't go to drs.

If you do go to drs, make sure you say chicken pox on phone, so they can keep her away from other patients.

No, I wouldn't. I'd wait and see how it goes. If it is chicken pox it is unlikely that you'd even need a diagnosis - just google images of chicken pox spot and it's very hard to miss. My older two had it and were not seen by a doctor for formal diagnosis. Was completely obvious.

This saves you taking contagious dc out, particularly to a clinic or surgery where there might be immune suppressed or vulnerable people.

Of course, if the chicken pox had complications, then would ring ooh or the doctors surgery if during surgery hours and ask about ow to get dd seen without risk of passing it on to people in poor health.

Once again, google if your friend - the nhs has info on complications to look out for.

A cup of porrige oats in a muslin, secured with a rubber band or hair tie and left in running bath is fantastically soothing. Squeeze the porridgy-juice over the skin. Bicarb in bath is good for drying out spots. I think ibuprofen is not recommended when dc has chicken pox, but paracetomol fine if there's a temp/discomfort. Piriton can help too.

If she is well enough she doesnt need to see a doctor, I wouldnt bother unless there were complications.

Only go if the spots get infected or if any other complications. I'm in the same boat just now!

I did take DD when she had chicken pox, but she was only 6 weeks and I was a little worried (she was completely fine). We were given a room to ourselves (along with DS who kindly shared with his new sister).
