What do they do? My DS had a circumcision yesterday afternoon and has managed 2 very painful wees since but despite taking on fluids he hasn't been since about 8.30am. He dropped off to sleep but emergency GP has just said they need to see him if he doesn't wake and manage to wee in the next couple of hours. He is like a feral animal if I even go near the area, it took us three hours to persuade him to leave the day centre after his op yesterday. I don't know how I am going to get him in the car. Or should I just call an ambulance if necessary and take him to A+E. Anyone experienced this? I feel like if they just gave him a slight sedative he would be calm enough to do it. Is that what they try?

I don't know. I wouldn't have thought you should call an ambulance though.

Why did he have the circumcision? Is it possible it could be infected?

Hope he's better soon

He had recurrent balanitis (infection of the foreskin) for about 18 months. I don't think it is infected. I think the extremity of his reactions is personality- related, he is an anxious child and quite highly strung. But he can be very vocal and physical in his reactions. Who knows maybe he will wake and wee, fingers crossed but last night and this am that took an hour of hysteria!

aww poor wee soul
sounds anxiety related as you say but important that he is seen if he hasn't passed urine since this am
can you bribe him into the car?
is his tummy distended and painful to touch?
does he seem agitated or in pain?

maybe a hot water bottle wrapped up and placed on his tummy may relax him enough to let go

Thanks for the comments! Did just about get him in the car and he managed a massive wee at 2am in A + E just as they were talking about putting a catheter in. Nothing this am but good idea about the hot water bottle!
