Baby with a haemorrhoid?

DD is nearly seven months old and has suffered quite badly with constipation. I blamed it on being formula fed. Since weaning though, with the exception of the first week when her bowels turned to concrete and she needed suppositories, things have been SO much better.

Since Saturday though, she has been inconsolable when passing a stool that's a little on the firm side. Not hard, but not properly soft either. I was surprised she was in such pain because the stool was still pretty soft IMO. When I wiped her bottom though, I noticed a hard bit of puckered looking skin that looks worryingly like a haemorrhoid. Surely not, at her age? Although I've been mixing prune purée with her breakfast - I'm amazed she's happy to eat it but she is - she's still very distressed when pooing, unless it's very soft.

I will obviously be taking her to see a GP tomorrow but does anyone have experience of this? I honestly thought children never got piles, let alone a baby. My poor girl. Just when I thought I'd got her bum troubles under control, this happens. I'm dreading the thought if this continuing into toddlerhood, I've heard so much about kids with chronic constipation, withholding, etc.

Ah poor little one. My first child had a tiny pile when she was a few months old. I didn't worry about it too much and it just went on it's own, although I don't remember her ever being that much on pain. Hope the doctors goes well. My latest addition in 7 months and is up nearly every night with tummy ache. Never in the day, just at night. It's awful and tiring for the two of us. I've not worked out what it is that's causing it yet.
