4yr old DS seems to be a bit deaf- and awful behaviour?

DS has had a bit of a cough/cold- nothing major and has not needed time off school/doctors/antibiotics.

However the last 4 or so days he is clearly having trouble hearing- and his behgaviour is dreadful- tantrums, tears, usually he is really well behaved!

Anyone know what this is- presumably ear infection but why the madness?

An ear infection can lead to deafness/burst ear drum/awful pain/fever -all of which would leave me in a terrible mood/crying and so on and I'm 37 not 4!
I would go to emergency dr if I were you.

Probably glue ear ie residual congestion in the ear drum which makes sounds distorted and life confusing. Can also be quite uncomfortable.

Agree, ear infections can be terribly painful, and pain can cause tears and tantrums in grown ups, let alone small children.

sinisterduck · 08/04/2012 19:42

Sorry- to clarify- he is not in any pain- just a bit deaf and acting up!

could be glue ear - mine have it without infections, not being able to hear would make you grumpy, ds2 crys because I ask him something, he carries on, I ask again, he still carries on, I shout, he realises I'm talking but first thing he hears is me shout and he cries Sad

Dentro I have reported you for advertising and peddling quack remedies

sinisterduck · 09/04/2012 20:17

Hi all- weirdly I tried some earwax eardrops and MASSIVE improvement- he can hear! Loads of fizzing so I guess he had a big earwax build up.

Behaviour improved too- so all is well- I missed the quack remedy (Grin) but thanks to all for your thoughts!

Might still be worth having his ears checked for glue ear though. Very common at his age.
