Yes, absolutely fine. by law they all contain the same key nutrients. You could swap brands each feed if you wanted to Smile.

Gigondas · 06/04/2012 20:10

Don't see why not if they aren't on some kind of special diet type formula.

changeforthebetter · 06/04/2012 20:11

Yes, definitely Smile

I think it's fine - we had a long motorway journey (couple of days) with our DS when he was 3 months old and he drank whatever was available!

Also we've changed here and there for a week or two (usually due to being away from home) and he was fine.

dannydsmum · 06/04/2012 20:11

thanks. h. visitor told me you can only change once dont know why!!

Yeah... don't treat what the HV says as gospel. Seriously!

Gigondas · 06/04/2012 20:12

It comes out of the hv book of lunatic theories 2012 edition I expect .

peeriebear · 06/04/2012 20:13

Lol. I bought whatever was cheapest.

mumofthemonsters808 · 06/04/2012 20:17

My HV told me under no circumstances to change formula and that I must persevere with DS's severe constipation. But I couldn't put up with it any longer and I changed and he was a different baby. Go for it.

PestoPenguin · 06/04/2012 20:22

"There are a number of different brands of infant formula milk available in the shops. All should meet the legal standards for formula milk, and it?s up to you to decide which one to use. In the past it was thought better to stick to one brand, but there is no evidence to suggest that changing brands does any good or any harm."

From the NHS book "Birth to five" 2009 edition, chapter 1 page 19. See here.

Sounds like your HV may need to update her training, as she is contradicting NHS advice.

PestoPenguin · 06/04/2012 20:24

The current NHS bottle feeding leaflet says the same thing [smile.

Agree with the others that it should be fine to swap. I've always had to take everything my HV says with a huge pinch of salt too Grin.

If you think what the HV is saying is complete bullshit try saying something like "Oooo, that's really interesting! I've love to read up on that, can you give me a copy of the research on it please?" 'Cos with my HV there is no research to back up half of the crap she comes out with! Grin.

Anyway, is the milk causing your LO any problems? Is there something we can help you with?

Baby massage is fab for constipation and wind in ff babies. Are there any free/cheap courses in your area (Sure Start/NCT etc)
