Diarrhoea for over two weeks in 9 month old

hi everyone,
just wondering if anyone can give some advice please. My dd has had diarrhoea for just over two weeks. I've weaned her and prior to being sick, she was on three meals and two snacks a day. It started as looser nappies, but I didn't worry as it happens sometimes, and she is still breastfed for the most part (bottle of formula in the evening). After four days of consistently loose nappies I took her to the doctor. He recommended taking her off all solids and only breastfeeding, and giving her Dioralyte for 24 hours. I did this and there was no improvement. All tests came back normal. They think it's likely to be a virus. I've been back several times to the surgery, and have seen several docs, but they all say the same. Luckily my milk supply has jumped up and is almost meeting her requirements (but I'm still needing to top up with formula in the eve, 3oz).
However, two weeks later she still has terrible diarrhoea. Basically, every so often I've given her something substantial to eat (and she gulps it down as she is really hungry for food), and then it goes through her v quickly. She had over 10 dirty nappies today (usually has about three).
I'm not sure what else to do - how will I know when she is better otherwise as she now naturally has v loose nappies being mostly breastfed.
She hates the dioralyte but drinks cooled boiled water ok.
The docs don't seem concerned about the diarrhoea, as long as she's hydrated. But I feel terrible for her, and I wonder how long more this can go on. Any ideas?
thanks!

Hang in there, I went through this with my son just before his first birthday. It lasted three weeks!

He hated diaralite, the childrens hospital gave me natural diaralyte in the end. They said it was notoriusly difficult to get blackcurrant to be drunk. They also said it was important not to give just water but something with calories in it eg ribena.

I gave food whenever he would take it and it just came together in the end.
I did force the diaralyte in (litrally with a syringe) on the advice of the childrens hospital in Bristol. 5ml every 5 mins for an hour as he did get very limp and low in the end.

Breastmilk is best and it is likely to be giving what he needs.
Good luck

whenever my DC have had diarrhoea we have stopped their milk and it stops within a day. Something to do with the way their intestines cope with lactose. It is difficult, but normal food and water is OK for a day or two

I definately got a leaflet when we went to childrens hospital for advice which said keep breastfeeding as it would be more benificial than any other drink.

thanks! it feels never-ending at the moment so it's good to get advice. Yeah I was thinking of giving her the dioralyte in ribena but it says on the bottle that it's not for under-3s. I'm sure most under-3s I know drink it! ;)
