My son 22m has had impetigo for about a week now. He is fine in himself just has spots, he has antibiotic cream prescribed by the doctor and the spots are definately getting better, the main remaining spots are on his hands.

My mum looks after him when i'm at work so we haven't had to avoid nursery or anything but haven't been taking him to swimming or stay and play like normal.

I am supposed to be meeting up with some friends tomorrow that all have kids the same age. I've tried to look on internet but some sites say not contagious after 2 days of antibiotics and others say for toddlers not to mix with other kids until all the spots have gone. Should i meet the others tomorrow or should i not risk giving all the other kids spots for the easter holidays?

I think the patches needs to be crusted over and no longer weeping before it is no longer contagious.

My DD has it at the moment, the Dr said it stops being infectious 48 hours after the antibiotics have started. Hope it clears up soon.

Just checked on NHS website [http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Impetigo/Pages/Treatment.aspx here] and it says the same.
