Mediced replacement for babies

Does anyone know of a good decongestant suitable for an 11 mo? I used to use mediced for my ds which was excellent but the age limit has changed.

My poor little dd is so tired and desperately trying to sleep but ever 30seconds or so is thrashing about trying to comfortably breath is there anything that I can give her to help ease the congestion in her nose?

I don't know of any that are available over the counter for babies anymore, but have heard that if you put vapour rub on soles of feet it helps - we have tried it and it did seem to help but don't know the reasoning behind it! Hope your lo better soon.

Have you tried raising the head of his cot? Might help a little as well.

Alternatively some steam may help - if he wakes you could try sitting in the bathroom with doors windows etc closed with hot taps on full for a while

Hope you both get some sleep

Add a couple of drops of Karvol in a bowl of steaming water and place it near the bed. I also put a few drops on a cotton bud placed underneath the fitted sheet. Has always work wonders for my DS&DD.

Will add karvol and vapor rub to my shopping list for tomorrow. Unfortunately I can't cope with a hot steamy room as I get all claustrophobic and can't breath Sad

Baby olbus oil is also great on a tissue under the sheet by their head. Several telephone directories to lift the cot.

saline nasal spray may help too - you get stuff suitable for babies

Saline spray - Sterimar (Boots or Superdrug) is very easy to use. Possibly humidifier or damp towels on the radiators so the air is not too dry. Lots of drinking.

Are you breastfeeding? Squirt of breastmilk up the nose does the same job as the saline drips/sprays (basically tricks the body into thinking it's bodily fluid - which of course BM is) and will turn all the snot runny and will hopefully clear it.
